Every Labor Day weekend, the egg-shaped oval at Darlington Raceway settles a debate that stretches back to 1950, and no name settles it more decisively than Jeff Gordon’s. Across the 501.322-mile, 367-lap grind, Gordon won the Southern 500 outright six times, in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2007, a total no other driver in the event’s history has matched.
